Angling Equipment
Those who are starting to fish seriously may find that they need various pieces of angling equipment to get started. There are all kinds of different equipment that an angler can buy here but anglers may not need all of it. Many will stick with a few pieces of equipment that they think they need most. Others may like to buy more pieces of kit and accessories to enhance their own angling experience.

Commonly used types of angling equipment include:
- Rods and reels -- there are all kinds of options on offer here from basic starter kits though to state-of the art reels. The kind of rod and reel that an angler uses may well depend on the kind of fishing that they will be doing. The angling equipment needed for sea fishing, for example, may be a lot different to that used by a fly fisherman.
- Flies and lures -- many fishermen will use lures in regular fishing to try and attract fish to the hook. Those who practice fly fishing may also have a range of flies that they like to use.
- Lines and hooks -- no fisherman can successfully fish with a rod without a line and a hook attached to it. Some will simply use standard types of products in this area of angling equipment. Others may buy specialist products here.
- Baskets/cases -- many fishermen will buy a fishing basket or case to use when they go angling. This can be a useful way of storing their spares, accessories and bait, for example. They will also, hopefully, come in useful to bring the catch home.
- Nets -- the final part of catching a fish might be made a lot easier if the fisherman has a net. This piece of angling equipment can be used to scoop up the fish during the final stages of the catch.
- Clothes -- many anglers will buy some form of waterproof clothing to protect them if they need to go into the water. This could simply be a pair of wellies but many will use waterproof leggings or waders.
- Seats and umbrellas -- angling is a long game for many that involves hours of sitting in the sun and the rain waiting for a bite. Angling equipment such as chairs and umbrellas can make this more comfortable.
Many anglers will build their angling equipment up over time. This can be a cost effective way of getting the kit you need together rather than buying everything you need at once.
